Where is the house dog?
That black dog is out in the yard.
Where is the cat? I have not seen the cat today.
The cat is in the kitchen. The neighbour's cow came too.
I like that white cow.
What did you see at the market yesterday?
I saw a big elephant. Not a forest elephant — a market elephant.
All right. Tomorrow we will see that elephant again.
Explanation
വീട്ടിൽ = at the house.
You know വീട്ടിൽ, 'at the house'. Add one more -എ and you get വീട്ടിലെ, which is no longer a place but a describer — and like every Malayalam describer it simply stands in front of its noun: വീട്ടിലെ നായ 'the dog at the house', കടയിലെ പഴം 'the fruit in the shop', കാട്ടിലെ ആന 'the elephant of the forest', മുറ്റത്തെ മരം 'the tree in the yard'. English needs a preposition and a reshuffle; Malayalam adds one letter and moves nothing.
In level 3 you learned that a person who is the object must carry the പ്രതിഗ്രാഹിക ending -എ. Animals go with the people, not with the things: ഞാൻ പൂച്ച കണ്ടു is simply not Malayalam. പശു is the one to watch — it slips a വിൻ in first, giving പശുവിനെ and പശുവിന്റെ.
The adjective sits in front of the animal's name and never changes for gender or number: You may stack two of them: And since the -ഇലെ form is itself a describer, it queues up in the same place, outermost: വീട്ടിലെ വലിയ നായ, 'the big dog at the house'.

Practice
Use it
Think of the animals near you and say four sentences aloud, each with a -ഇലെ describer or an -എ object: വീട്ടിലെ നായ കറുത്ത നായ ആണ്, ഞാൻ ഇന്നലെ ഒരു പൂച്ചയെ കണ്ടു, അയൽക്കാരന്റെ പശു വെളുത്തതാണ്, കാട്ടിലെ ആന വലുതാണ്. Then take one place you know — കട, സ്കൂൾ, അങ്ങാടി — and build a describer from it: കടയിലെ …, സ്കൂളിലെ …, അങ്ങാടിയിലെ ….
