നിന്ന് എന്ന വാക്ക് തുടക്കം കാണിക്കുന്നു. അതിനു മുൻപിൽ ആധാരിക -ഇൽ വരുന്നു: വീട് → വീട്ടിൽ → വീട്ടിൽ നിന്ന്; കട → കടയിൽ → കടയിൽ നിന്ന്; ഗ്രാമം → ഗ്രാമത്തിൽ → ഗ്രാമത്തിൽ നിന്ന്. ചോദ്യം: എവിടെ നിന്ന്?

നിന്ന് means from, and it always sits on top of the locative -ഇൽ you learned in l03-07 — never on the bare noun. Build it in two steps: വീട് becomes വീട്ടിൽ, and വീട്ടിൽ becomes വീട്ടിൽ നിന്ന്. So കടയിൽ നിന്ന്, സ്കൂളിൽ നിന്ന്, നഗരത്തിൽ നിന്ന്, ഗ്രാമത്തിൽ നിന്ന്. The matching question word is എവിടെ നിന്ന് — from where.

വരെ എന്ന വാക്ക് അവസാനം കാണിക്കുന്നു. അതിനു മുൻപിൽ വാൽ ഒന്നും ഇല്ല — വാക്ക് അതേപടി നിൽക്കുന്നു: സ്കൂൾ വരെ, കട വരെ, നഗരം വരെ, വീട് വരെ.

വരെ means up to, as far as, until — and unlike നിന്ന് it takes no case ending at all. The noun stands in its plain form: സ്കൂൾ വരെ, കട വരെ, നഗരം വരെ, വീട് വരെ. This lopsidedness is worth memorising as a pair: the starting point is dressed in -ഇൽ, the finishing point is bare.

രണ്ടും ഒരുമിച്ച് വരുമ്പോൾ വഴി മുഴുവൻ ആകുന്നു: വീട്ടിൽ നിന്ന് സ്കൂൾ വരെ. ആ വഴിയുടെ നീളം ദൂരം; ആ പോക്ക് യാത്ര; തുടക്കവും അവസാനവും സ്ഥലം.
